Ornamentalism, Celtic Nouveau, Tribalism

Ornamentalism is inspired by such varied styles as Tribalism, Art Nouveau and even Celtic style, fusing them into something new. So ornamental style would be a modern blend of Celtic—Nouveau.
Breaking out of the box model, ornamentalism can provide an eye–catching change of pace. The downside is the content must be strong enough to hold its own against a striking layout.
Tribalism

Tribalism is an ornamental style ideal for bands or creatives, producing striking visuals for CD cover art and posters. Not to forget the important market these businesses survive on: promotional t–shirts and other items. The wild ornamentalism of tribal style is both modern and ancient.
In the example above, vector illustration lends a pop art feel. A small number of vector shapes are arranged like puzzle pieces to make the frame.
The design crux is that “me—too” websites are comforting, familiar, but will not stop a busy web surfer. Ornamentalism can be the departure that sets the web surfer’s anticipation your site is positioned against competition, rather than blending in.
Too often branding means being Coke, Pepsi or a million generic also–colas. Very few understand the powerful position of the UnCola in creating a business identity. And the web is far more crowded than any store shelf.
